I'm working with an AD environment where the existing administrator has already done some work towards setting up a new forest/domain and migrating to it, and I have some questions I would like assistance with as I believe they are trying to do this migration in a rather non-standard way.
The current environment has Exchange (not known yet if 2003 or 2010) and an Exchange migration to Exchange 2010 in the new forest also needs to happen. I have the below questions.
1. They want to move user profiles to a new server in the new forest before migrating the users to the new forest. I imagine this is possible as there would be a 2 way trust between the forests. Can someone confirm and advise the best way to migrate the profiles (combination of roaming profiles and redirected folders).
2. I suspect they haven't followed the recommended order of migration of migrating service accounts and groups first and have already begun migration of some users. What kind of problems should they be expecting and if some users have already been migrated, what would be the advice to set this right?
