I have server 2003 that was setup as the domain controller in a small network of 20 workstations. 5 years later a newer server was added because of the age of the old one (As a member server). The new one is Server 2008 R2 standard. That one is working well and all the applications and data have been moved at the time of the install. The problem is the old server, which we want to remove completely (now 6.5 years old) is the Domain controller. Is there an easy way to move the domain to the new server so we can take this old one off line? And second, just as important, if it can be moved to the new server will the local machines need to rejoin the domain and a new local profile on each machine need to be recreated. I’m trying to avoid that if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
